Buenos Aires, October 2025 — On October 30, the World Meat Championship – CMDC® will take place, an event that will award the best Striploins and Ribeyes at a global level. The jury will include Meat Sommeliers, consumers, experts, as well as renowned national and international chefs.
Organized by Dr. Luis Barcos, creator and Director of the Argentine Meat Sommelier School, together with AmeriCarne magazine and Messe Frankfurt Argentina, this international competition aims to recognize, reward, and showcase meat quality. The event will be held at the El Central restaurant, located in La Rural in Buenos Aires.
The CMDC® seeks to highlight quality through a rigorous and reliable evaluation process. Two cuts will be assessed—Striploin and Ribeye—which are further divided into two categories: grass-fed and grain-fed animals.
Samples from Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru, Paraguay, Spain, and Ireland will compete for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals in their respective categories. In addition, special mentions will be awarded for excellence in flavor.
An International Jury
To ensure reliable results, the evaluation process will be carried out by three types of specialized juries: Meat Sommeliers; Consumers and Experts; and International Chefs with deep expertise in meat. Among the experts participating are Gastón Acurio, Christian Petersen, Juan Gaffuri, Maria De Michelis, Arturo González, Pietro Sorba, Ale Feraud, Nicolás Arcuchi, Juan Pedro Rastellino, Gustavo Fuentes, Kazuhito Obara, Maximiliano Britez, and Micaela Najmanovich.
With this first edition, the World Meat Championship – CMDC® positions Argentina as a global benchmark in innovation and meat excellence, celebrating the quality, passion, and expertise that drive the industry internationally.
